3-Day Training + Community of Practice Booster Sessions
Description
Implementing Restorative Practices is about more than sitting in a circle. First, we need to deeply understand the roots and the principles behind this work. Then, we need to learn how to do the practices themselves with fidelity. Finally, we need to create an infrastructure to support the effective implementation of those practices that will sustain over time. This training is designed to address all of these things.
This immersive experience is intended to change you, inspire you, empower you, give you concrete tools and strategies that can be applied immediately, and provide time to begin developing a comprehensive plan for building/district-wide sustainable implementation.
Who Should Attend
YOU! With that said, the greatest success comes from sending an initial leadership team from your setting to be trained that includes:
Systems Leaders: Those in positions of authority to make major systems (infrastructure) decisions
Implementer Leaders (trailblazers): Those eager educators committed to implementing with fidelity right away!
Individuals are still encouraged to attend, even without a team (just please bring your systems mindset)!
Goals and Objectives
By the end of the series participants will:
- be able to describe the theories/principles behind Restorative Practices
- be able to identify critical features of Restorative Practices, the MTSS framework, and the alignment of the two
- have grown personally through authentic connection and experiential learning
- have started (or clearly understand what is necessary to start) developing a long-term sustainable plan around the data, systems, and practices necessary for the successful implementation of Foundational Restorative Practices
Community of Practice Booster Sessions
The purchase of the 3-day Foundational Restorative Practices Training series includes not only the training itself but also three additional Community of Practice Booster Sessions with Ali Hearn. These sessions are designed with these goals in mind:
- To offer participants a safe/brave spaces to continue to practice their skills. A portion of each session will allow practice time for facilitation to keep your skills fresh!
- To help you apply what you’ve learned and provide guidance on implementing the concepts, managing data, and handling system management related to the training material.
- To allow participants the benefit of learning through the experience of others. By bringing people back together who have started to apply their skills, lessons can be learned and practices can be strengthened by all participants.
- To learn additional content that is supplemental to the training content.
Structure of the Days
Day 1: Theories
Day one includes the roots and theories behind Restorative Practices, as well as a brief overview of the entire continuum of practices (from proactive to responsive). While this training focuses primarily on proactive strategies and practices, exposure to the entire continuum of practices is critical for the development of a strong foundation of support.
Day 2: Practices
Day two takes a deeper dive into the proactive/preventative practices on the Restorative Practices continuum including changing our language (affective language) & changing the way we gather (continuum of Circles). Day two builds on the connections and relationships from day one to strengthen and deepen overall learning.
Day 3: Installation
Review of Days 1 & 2 and intentional team time allocated for leadership teams to work together on a comprehensive plan for building/district-wide implantation. This includes how to use data for decision-making, professional development considerations, successful alignment to current policies and practices, and other critical features of a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) framework.

Professional Development hours (CEU’s & CPDU’s) will be offered for all 3 days of training.

Do you offer refunds if I can't attend?
This live event does not offer refunds for cancellations. However, the tickets can be transferred to another individual for the assigned event date. If you have any further questions or need assistance with the ticket transfer process, please contact us at support@hearncc.com.

Great news! There is an Advanced Restorative Practices training series (Days 4, 5, and 6!) that focuses on sustaining community over time and repairing harm when necessary. Stay tuned for training dates, locations, and more information. In the meantime, make sure you and your team(s) participate in this Foundational Restorative Practices training series first to learn the building blocks necessary for long-term sustainable implementation before being trained in the Advanced series.
Am I able to get CPDUs or CEUs for attending this event?
At this time, credits for each training are event specific. If credits are being offered, it will be listed under the training’s specific details.

Can I train the rest of my staff when I return from this training?
The short answer is, no.
This is not a turnkey training model. Please attend this training with your own personal growth in mind. You will be learning how to apply your new skills to the environments you work in the most. Day 3 of the Foundational Restorative Practices Training focuses specifically on the systems and data necessary to effectively support this work and includes time for developing a comprehensive implementation plan to achieve intended outcomes.
